Puppy Musculoskeletal Check

A gentle through assessment allows me to identify early postural imbalances, or movement patterns that may predispose puppies to futire musculoskeletal issues.  Early detection enables timely, evidence-informed guidance to support optimal joint development, coordination as your puppy grows. This proactive approach helps lay strong foundations for lifelong mobility, performance, and wellbeing.

Puppy Exercise Workshop 

The Puppy Exercise Workshop provides owners with clear, practical guidance on safe and appropriate exercise for growing puppies.  Focusing on age appropriate activity, surface choice, play, rest and progressive loading, the workshop helps reduce the risk of overuse injuries during skeletal development.

Nutrition and Growth Support

Guidance on nutrition during growth, including appropriate feeding practices, weight management, and how excess weight during puppyhood can increase the risk of future joint and musculoskeletal issues.

 

Environmental Advice

Advice on creating a safe home environment to protect growing joints, including flooring, stairs, furniture, car access, and appropriate use of ramps and supports.

 

Play and Social Interaction

Education on suitable play for puppies, including how to encourage natural movement and play while avoiding repetitive, high-impact activities. Guidance is also provided on managing play with adult dogs and recognising when play becomes excessive.

Puppy Exercise Workshop

This workshop is designed to help owners support their puppy’s healthy musculoskeletal development during the crucial early months of growth. The focus is on building strength, coordination, and body awareness while protecting developing joints and soft tissues.

 

The workshop covers:

 

  • Encouraging appropriate, natural play that supports healthy movement and development

  • Understanding how to safely introduce play with adult dogs and recognising when play becomes excessive or inappropriate

  • Supporting development of a strong core, balance, and proprioception

  • The importance of maintaining a healthy body weight, as excess weight during growth has a direct correlation with increased risk of joint disease, including hip dysplasia

  • Guidance on safe exercise for puppies, including why repetitive activities such as ball and stick chasing, sharp turns, and high-impact movements should be avoided

  • Protecting growing joints by avoiding jumping from height and excessive impact during early development

 

This workshop provides practical, evidence-informed guidance to help reduce the risk of future musculoskeletal issues and set your puppy up for a lifetime of comfortable, confident movement.
